Perfect Golf Swing
The perfect golf swing; have you been wondering just how to achieve it? Well, you may not
want to spend too much time thinking it over. Golf professionals and instructors will all tell you the same thing; there is no perfect golf
swing. You can see the evidence for yourself from watching PGA pros play every Sunday. Do you think Jim Furyk has a golf swing that is perfect
and that anyone could emulate?
The truth is, every player has their own unique golf swing and the reason they are successful on the professional tour is because they
constantly work on their swing and their game. I know that may not be what you want to hear, but confidence, repetition and solid fundamentals
are the key to a better golf score.
So, what do you need in developing a good swing? It all begins when you first step up to the ball on the tee box. You want to establish a good
solid rhythm. What I mean by that is you want to first relax and develop a smooth swing.
How often have you found yourself hurrying your backswing by either being too tense or taking the club back too fast? What were the results
when you did this? Did you know that it is your backswing that will determine whether you hit a good golf shot or one that slices or hooks off
the fairway?
When you are set up to the ball, take a moment to relax. Take a couple of practice swings to establish a good rhythm. Have a firm grip on the
club, but not one that is too tight.
Next, take the club away from the ball with a one piece motion. Let your hips and shoulders turn naturally and your weight transfer to your
right side. As you take the club back your hands will set in place at your waist. Once at the top you should notice your hands are right at your
right ear level, if you are a right handed golfer.
On your downswing the goal is to bring the clubhead back to the ball with a controlled tempo. Your goal isn't to try and "kill" the ball. The
results of over swinging are disastrous.
Lead the downswing with your hips. Let your arms and shoulders follow. It is your hips that produce the power. You can look at Tiger Woods and
see the power he generates with his lower body and he swings through the ball. It is not about your arms.
Finally, you need a complete follow through in order to have a good solid golf swing. You want to finish your swing with a high follow
through. If you cut the follow through off short or finish too low you will find yourself topping a lot of shots and not getting the ball into
the air. You'll also notice that your weight has now shifted to your left side, your right knee is pointing toward your intended target, and your
hands are up near your left ear.
Although there may not be a "perfect golf swing", by sticking to these basic tips you will find yourself having a good fundamental swing that
you can repeat over and over again. And when you do that you'll begin seeing your scores drop.
Golf Swing Instruction Tip #1
Work on developing a good basic golf swing. In order to play better golf and have more fun you need a
fundamentally sound golf swing. So stick to the basics and work towards having an easily repetitive golf swing that eventually becomes second
nature to you.
Golf Swing Instruction Tip #2
Use training videos to help improve your golf game. Golf swing videos are an excellent way
to build a good solid golf swing. They allow you to watch them over and over again until you are able to correct any swing problems in
your game.
Golf Swing Instruction Tip #3
Get the right training aid. Before buying any golf swing training aid be sure you know
exactly what it is you need to improve on. For example, if you're having a putting problem, is it with distance control? Alignment? Swing?
By pinpointing the exact problem you can then look for a training aid that specifically solves that particular problem.
